Academic Goals of the College:

1.        To develop a balanced curriculum which provides a solid basis in a wide distribution of  subjects deemed necessary
for every enlightened citizen.

2.        To combine essential business and managerial strategies with a solid liberal arts basis, contributing to the formation
of a successful professional.

3.        To maximise the students’ job skills through practical assessments designed to allow the students to think
independently and apply themselves accordingly.   

4.        To provide training in areas of business as practised in a developing international economy.

5.        To make available to all segments of the economy, a high quality affordable education leading to the baccalaureate
program.   

6.        To appreciate and comply with, the high standards set by the University Councils of Jamaica, in developing an
accredited program promoting high tertiary standards.  

7.        To provide pre-college courses in order to prepare students without the necessary qualifications to gain the
requirements to enter College.

Core Competencies of the College:  

1.        The faculty must demonstrate high competence in teaching and scholarship in order to carry out the institution’s
manifold purpose: to prepare students personally and professionally for careers in their chosen fields through the provision
of quality tertiary education, and to provide a well rounded curriculum which is founded on the liberal arts principle which
provides a solid basis in a wide distribution of subjects deemed necessary for every enlightened citizen; and to instill
democratic values based on mutual respect, understanding and cooperation.

2.        The pursuits and achievements of the Student Services Office must be effective in catering to the academic, spiritual
and social wellbeing of the students and in increasing their self esteem.

3.        The administrative services of the College must be efficient in providing excellent support that complements an
intellectual and academic climate and procures and maintains adequate resources used to enhance the teaching and
learning environment through the employment of suitable technologies.

4.        The institution must incorporate in its instructional and learning processes an experiential learning program that;
I.          Exposes the students to practical working knowledge of subjects instructing.
II.         Provides a medium through which students become acquainted with job principles and work etiquettes.
III.        Allows the students to interact, express themselves and contribute in a professional environment.
IV.        Allows the students to recognize and assess the values of their contribution to the development of the host company.
V.        Allows the students to meet, collaborate and develop workplace relationships with coworkers through professional
and social channels in order to advance their knowledge of other culture and to be sensitized towards the diversities that  
exist among people who live and work together.

5.        The College must develop a comprehensive grading and assessment scheme that is instrumental and effective in
evaluating the students’ learning outcomes.

Expected learning outcomes:

1.        Critical Thinking: Students will be able to understand, analyze, test and evaluate arguments and evidences.

2.        
Effective Communication Skills: Students will develop reading, writing, active listening, and public speaking skills.

3.        
Interpersonal Skills: Students will develop effective teamwork, ethical consciousness, conflict resolution, and
workplace skills.

4.        
Use of existing and new technology: Students will demonstrate the ability to incorporate and use modern technology
in collecting and analyzing data from a variety of sources.

5.        
Community: Students will develop an awareness of our interdependence as global citizens combined with an
understanding of the history, culture, diversity, and commonality of life’s experiences.

6.        
Life-long Learning: Students will develop a life-long habit of pursuing knowledge.
