Department of Psychology and Counseling
Through a comprehensive education in the science of psychology, the Department aims to educate the whole
person, enhance personal growth, improve interpersonal relationships, encourage life-long learning through
research and achieve quality in its academic pursuits.
The Psychology Department provides a high quality curriculum focusing on the foundations of psychological
principles and methodology which will prepare students for further undergraduate studies and for preparatory
careers as a professional psychologist, therapist and counselors. Students majoring in counseling and psychology
examine in depth many aspects of human and animal behavior, along with the biological, psychological, and
sociocultural aspects of behavior.
The Psychology program shares the College's commitment to develop ethical leaders for a culturally diverse world,
and contributes to the liberal education of students.
Students are provided the opportunity to apply these perspectives to a variety of individual, family, and community
contexts. As students progress through the curriculum, they have opportunities to assist faculty with research, and
engage in their own research with faculty supervision.
