The Associate of Science Degree in
        Health Care Management

This Program is developed to provide foundational undergraduate training and experience
needed to work efficiently and effectively in an entry-level position in the medical
environment.   Students are allowed to develop the necessary mastery of clinical and
administrative skills through classroom theory and a 200-hour, unpaid clinical internship in
a medical office where students practice the skills and knowledge learned in the
classroom.

Students are trained as Medical Assistants and are provided basic knowledge of
administrative medical office management. Techniques, methods, and procedures
covered include patient reception, record management, billing, scheduling, and human
resource management. Medical law, ethics, and bioethics in the ambulatory health care
setting are also the focus of this course.

The Associate of Science Degree in Health Care Management takes an interdisciplinary
approach combining business, health and social sciences courses.

Graduates of this program are prepared to help a physician examine and treat patients,
perform laboratory tests, and function as a crucial member of the team that shares the
administrative responsibilities of operating a medical care facility.
